91ºÚÁÏÍø’s School of Nursing (VUSN) is pleased to announce an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the areas of gerontology, dementia care, and dyadic health science under Dr. Lyndsey Anderson. This full-time position will provide a mentored training experience in research and intervention development as part of preparation for an academic position. Training opportunities will be related to analysis of data on daily function and from dyadic measures, publication of a manuscripts, clinical trial proposal development, and ethical issues surrounding research involving persons living with cognitive impairment. Activities may include working with the study team on day-to-day oversight of research activities, preparing research study protocols and materials, grant writing, assisting with and leading data analysis, disseminating research findings, developing scientific manuscripts as lead author or co-author, presenting research findings at conferences, and performing other related duties. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work as a team member are essential.

OVERVIEW OF PROGRAM
VUSN is offering this one-year postdoctoral fellowship to a scientist who has completed a doctoral program (PhD). A postdoctoral fellowship at VUSN opens doors to an environment rich with experienced mentors and resources designed to support your growth as a scientist and scholar. An option to renew for a 2nd year of fellowship will be available.

Postdoctoral fellows have access to exceptional resources to conduct their own research, including multiple opportunities to publish and assistance with grant-writing or project planning for the next stage of their research careers. During the fellowship, fellows receive individualized mentoring and training to develop the skills and competencies needed to become successful independent investigators in their fields.

  • Curriculum Vitae (links to publications).
  • Three letters of recommendation, one of which is from a representative of the applicant’s dissertation committee. Letters should address the applicants’ scholarly abilities, area for growth, and future potential in academia and emailed directly from the recommender to Lyndsey.Anderson@vanderbilt.edu.
  • Cover letter (2-5 pages single-spaced) that describes previous research experience, goals for postdoctoral training and career, focus/area of research, expectations/needs during mentorship, and an idea for potential research project to carry out during the postdoctoral training (feasible to conduct in about two years). Applicant should highlight their skills and potential contributions to a research team.

  • Length of postdoc is confirmed for 1 year, with a second year contingent on available funding and the PD’s successful performance.
  • Terminal degree requirements: a PhD is required in a health-related area (e.g., nursing, psychology, social work, human development and family studies, etc.).
  • Position is full-time with a hybrid/in-person work schedule.
